CBD laneway cafe

Weekends: 8:30am-3:30pm

@krimpercafe is tucked down Guildford Lane, one of Melbourne’s oldest and cutest laneways just off Queen Street. With its buzzing atmosphere and loads of character, it has that hidden gem feel Melbourne does so well!

Guildford Lane has a slight slope and a few cobblestones as you approach the entrance to Krimper. It makes the doorway a little uneven, but it’s step-free, and I had no trouble getting in.

Inside, this one’s a converted warehouse with moody lighting, exposed beams, and old wheels hanging from the ceiling. It’s got a cool, industrial vibe that feels like a bit of a secret. Most of the seating here is standard height with chairs that have backrests. There’s an old cart in the middle fitted with a table, but it’s raised and requires a step to access. Some tables are a little tighter to reach, but I found a spot that worked and could move through the space without feeling cramped.

There’s a big accessible toilet off to the side that’s fitted with grab rails and a backrest.

Accessible parking is available on Queen Street, right where the laneway begins, which made things easy. There’s another one on Queen Street a little further down over Little Lonsdale Street.

Not your average cafe and that’s exactly what makes it worth a visit. Quirky, charming, and quintessentially Melbourne
