@quarterhousemelbourne got the double-take test! I went with @amy_c_evans and between the two of us we scoped out every corner. Think sport, classic pub vibes, and plenty of space to move.

There are a few entrances, but only one is step free - on Collins Street opposite the tram stop. Double doors may need to be opened, as a single door isn’t wide enough for a mobility aid.

On the ground floor, the Public Bar is huge! Booths, standard height tables, or high bar stools give you plenty of seating options, and there are couple of pool tables and big screens throughout. We found the space worked really well for both of us. I like to transfer off my scooter, while Amy stays seated in her powerchair, and there was enough room to do both comfortably. It can get pretty noisy during peak times, so off-peak visits are a good call if you prefer something calmer.

The rooftop is accessed via the lift next to the bar. Inside, most seating is high stools, but there’s a dining style section to the left with standard height tables and chairs. The outdoor terrace is heated in winter and a gorgeous spot for sunset drinks.

The accessible toilet is on the middle level next to the function space. It’s roomy with grab rails and a backrest; gets the tick of approval. There’s no accessible toilet on the ground floor or rooftop, so plan ahead if needed.

If you’re driving, there are two accessible parking spots on Aurora Lane underneath Collins Street. From there, you can reach Collins Street via the public lift at Melbourne Quarter (Gunpowder Walk) or through Secure Parking at 700 Collins Street (entrance via Mayfield Place).

Whether you’re after a pre footy meal or rooftop drinks, there’s something here for everyone. Amy has already been back since our visit, which pretty much confirms it’s a winner!
