Omi 380. Melbourne CBD

380 Lonsdale Street,

Melbourne VIC 3000

Japanese Food Hall

Sunday - Thursday: 10am-9pm

Friday + Saturday: 10am-12am

I ducked into Omi 380 on Lonsdale Street on a rainy Melbourne day, and what started as a quick escape from the weather became an instant fave!

The step-free entrance makes getting in easy, though you might need a hand with the heavy door.

Inside, the space completely surprised me - it’s not what I expected at all. Beyond the entrance and gelato bar, it opens into a refined food hall vibe. But unlike the usual food hall hustle, Omi 380 is full table service, so no lining up or weaving through chaotic crowds. There’s a matcha bar and separate serving stations, but everything flows calmly, making you want to try a little of everything.

Seating is mostly standard height with a few booth options. I loved that the bar stools weren’t skyscraper tall and even had backrests. Tables for two can feel a little tight, but I grabbed a round table that had plenty of room for my scooter. Oh, and the cutlery drawer hidden under the table? Genius. Practical, thoughtful, and honestly a small detail that made a big difference.

The accessible toilet is tucked away at the back. It’s large, spotless, and fitted with grab rails, backrest and a baby change table. Easily one of the better setups I’ve come across.

Parking isn’t too tricky either. There’s an accessible spot on La Trobe Street with a short roll through Sutherland Street and Timothy Lane to reach Lonsdale, plus a few more on Elizabeth Street nearby.

And the food? Omi 380 promises a taste of Japan, and it delivers. My sushi taco was ridiculous in the best possible way. Gluten-free friends, you’re covered too. Rain, shine, or Melbourne mayhem, Omi 380 is one I’ll definitely be coming back to.
