Melbourne’s Best Spots. Made Accessible.
If you’ve ever tried to find out whether a cafe, pub, or event space is actually accessible, you know how frustrating it can be.
I started Access with Ash because I didn’t want people with mobility needs, like myself, to have to call ahead, guess based on vague photos or cross their fingers and hope for the best. Is there a step at the front? Will there be space for a scooter or walker? What’s the toilet like - if there is one?
“I still find myself crossing my fingers when I arrive somewhere new. That’s exactly why I started Access with Ash - so fewer people have to.”
Through reviews, photos, and access video tours, I share honest info about Melbourne’s cafes, restaurants, hotels, and major events. From parking spots to toilet design, no detail is too small when planning a stress-free outing.
Good Food, Good Access, No Compromises
But let’s be real - access is only half the story.
I also genuinely love food, and I only feature spots I’d happily go back to. If I wouldn’t take a friend there, I won’t put it on the blog.
Earlier this year, I covered one of my all time favourite spots in Melbourne: Supernormal. The food? Epic. The vibe? Relaxed but stylish. And yes, the access? Solid.
From gluten free toasties to sleek city restaurants, I hand select venues where the food is actually worth the visit and the experience is inclusive.
Reaching Locals and the World
Fast forward to now, and it’s not just Melburnians checking out Access with Ash.
Visitors from around the world are landing on my site to plan their trips - wanting to know where they can enjoy a great meal, a night out, or a world class event without facing barriers at the door.
Let’s Make Access Part of the Plan
My hope is that Access with Ash becomes a go-to resource; not just for locals and travellers, but also for venues and event organisers who want to do better, and know better.
Whether someone’s flying in for the Australian Open or keen to brunch like a local, my goal is the same: Help people find accessible options without the stress.
And if you’re a venue, hotel, or event organiser? I’d love to work with you. Let’s make accessibility a meaningful part of your strategy - not just a checkbox or afterthought.
